The Award Winning Corp Member

THE AWARD WINNING CORPS MEMBER
Dan 1:17-20
Youth service present among other things a golden platform to distinguish oneself and go out of the service year not only with much sort after discharge certificate but award it is a year that may brighten an average youth destiny if he keys into the plausible reward of the service year.
As Mary Kay Ash asserted “there three types of people in this world: those who make things happen and those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened”; an award winning corps member come to make things happen. An award winner corps member like David and Mordecia is foresighted he sees beyond the call of the nation to serve to the cries of the immediate community where he serves. He sees beyond the euphoria of the service year to the great beckon of duty in the place of primary assignment. Secondly he is purposeful and plan guided, he knew what he wanted out of the service year and get down the very first day to go for it. He is devoted and dedicated, like Nehimah and his men travail beckons of service year never distract him. He is determined and disciplined never stumbles at obstacles that line the route to his goal, he rather turned them to stepping stones, and he is goal oriented and equally a goal getter. He ties all these qualities up with his faith in God and adherent and persistent prayer, knowing that promotion comes only through God.
Many award exist in the service year and serious minded and visionary corps member can win, they include among others, the chairman’s award, the state honors award and the presidential honors award, the last one in particular provide unimaginable benefits ranging from presidential handshake, model, certificate and automatic employment in any of the federal government agencies or parastatals, scholarship for masters and PHD in any university in the world. Apart from these awards competition that paves way for handsome reward equally exist during the service year Example CBN business proposal competition etc.
To be an award winner the corps member should bear in mind that race for ward winning start the very day he received his call up number. For early preparation, optimistic disposition, a definition of intent, not just to serve but to serve and excel, put the corps member in better stead and award winning frame of mind. Other important things to take note of are that award in service year is given based on how the corps member distinguished himself at the orientation camp, primary assignment, community Development Service particularly the personal Community Development Service. However the corps member’s accomplishment at the place of primary assignment carries bulk of the mark for the awards in the service year.
In summary to win this award the corps must among other things do the following
